INJURIES AND DISEASES
OF THE SPINE & TORSO
Just about everybody suffers from low back pain now and again. Our lifestyle with many hours sitting during the day, often coupled with little exercise or back muscle training puts huge demands on our spine.
Among others, the relevant orthopaedic-trauma surgery diseases and injuries in this sector include:
- Segmental blocks for anesthesia
- Slipped discs
- Spinal canal stenosis
- Contusions to the thoracic or lumbar spine
- Osteoporosis (reduced bone mineral density)
- Vertebral fractures
- Bruising to the torso/rip fractures
WHAT WE DO
FOR SPINAL DISORDERS
Diagnostics
After a comprehensive physical examination, a decision is made as to which additional examinations would be useful. These include:
- Digital X-ray (better image quality, markedly reduced radiation exposure)
- Modern ultrasound diagnosis (with color Doppler option)
- Radiation-free functional spinal measurements
- Analysis of postural competency of the back muscles
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
Therapy
Therapeutically, our practice offers a broad spectrum of neural therapy (targeted injections) ranging from chirotherapy/manual medicine through pain infusions or homeopathic infusions to targeted trigger point therapy using a special shockwave transducer or laser applications. Rarely is surgery by a neurosurgeon required (in severe cases of slipped discs).
